Autentic, Close to wildlife and luxurious
The camp was a fantastic experience. The location is surrounded by estonishing wildlife. Only 15 minutes away we have seen many lions, cheetahs, girafes, zebras, elephants etc. The tents were very luxurious but still autentic. The service and the food was excellent. The most impressive was a visit to a traditional Massai village. The camp is a great choice for guests but also supports local communities. Absolutely the best!
Our last stop on our Kenya safari could not have been better. This was brilliant! We loved the simplicity and authenticity of the camp. The staff were lovely and welcoming and we felt very much at home. The game viewing was absolutely stunning. It helped having Dominic the local legend as our guide. Ably assisted by Pere, Dom gave us an unforgettable safari experience. We saw so much; the highlights being the Great Migration, lions at close quarters with fresh kills, and a hapless Impala running straight into the jaws of a hyena (that could not believe its luck). An Extraordinary and Personal Safari Experience in the Mara
Enkewa Camp was one of the true highlights of our 12-day Kenya adventure and provided exactly the kind of safari experience we had hoped for—a beautiful, remote setting, extraordinary wildlife encounters, wonderful people, and a level of personalized hospitality that would be difficult to match. Situated in the uncrowded southeastern part of the Maasai Mara, Enkewa provided access to a wonderfully remote wilderness and the Great Migration corridor, far removed from the crowds elsewhere in the Mara. The camp itself offers beautiful, sweeping views of the African savannah and an intimate atmosphere that makes you feel as though you are experiencing a very special corner of Kenya. From the moment we arrived, the camp leadership team—Jose, the owner/operator, along with Dominic, and Janet were incredibly gracious hosts. They seemed genuinely committed to making sure every aspect of our stay was as close to perfect as possible. The food was amazing, and the personalized, five-star service provided by the entire Enkewa team was simply unmatched. Our guide and spotter, Robinson and Tipira, were absolutely amazing. By the end of our very first day, we had already seen all of the “Big Five,” but that was just the beginning. Among many other memorable wildlife encounters, they found us a rare Serval cat—something we certainly hadn't expected (but hoped) to see. Perhaps most memorable of all, Robinson and Tipira went above and beyond to give us the opportunity to witness one of the great spectacles of the Mara: a wildebeest crossing of the Mara River. They invested the time and effort necessary to put us in the right place at the right time, and witnessing a river crossing firsthand became one of the unforgettable moments of our entire Kenya trip. Their knowledge, patience, enthusiasm, and determination to give us the best possible safari experience were exceptional. The camp accommodations were equally impressive. Our tent was extremely comfortable and provided all the luxuries we needed while still allowing us to feel completely immersed in the African wilderness. We had a very comfortable bed, a sofa for relaxing between game drives, electricity, running hot water, and a flushing toilet. It was the perfect combination of an authentic tented safari experience and the comforts of home. What really distinguishes Enkewa, however, is the combination of its location, its people, and the extraordinarily personal nature of the experience. We never felt like just another pair of guests moving through a safari camp. From the leadership team to our guides to the entire camp staff, the hospitality was warm, genuine, and incredibly attentive. We couldn't have enjoyed our stay more. If you are traveling to Kenya for safari and are looking for an intimate, uncrowded Mara experience with exceptional wildlife viewing, outstanding guides, wonderful food, and truly personalized hospitality, we highly recommend Enkewa Camp. An Exceptional Experience in the Masai Mara
Our stay at Enkewa Camp was one of the highlights of our trip. The accommodations, food, and service were all outstanding, but what really made our stay special was the people. Benson, our driver, and Julius, our spotter, were outstanding. They were knowledgeable, engaging, and incredibly skilled at finding wildlife and putting us in position for some remarkable encounters. We were also impressed by how well the Enkewa guides communicated and worked together to make sure their guests had the best possible experience. The wildlife viewing was incredible. We had close-up encounters with lions, leopards, and cheetahs, saw fresh kills and lions mating, got relatively close to a black rhino, and had an unforgettable encounter with a leopard lounging low in a tree just a short distance from our vehicle. Back at camp, Dominic and Janet were wonderful hosts, with great support from Allen and Dennis. The entire team made us feel genuinely welcome. They even surprised us with a cake and traditional celebration song for our milestone anniversary, which made the occasion especially memorable. Enkewa delivered the combination we were hoping for: an intimate and authentic camp, exceptional hospitality, great food, and extraordinary wildlife viewing. Paradise on earth
The whole family went with high expectations, but Enkewa Camp exceeded them by far. The facilities, the service, the incredible food, and, above all, the reality of seeing the animals from less than 2 meters away, make it the best safari in the entire Masai Mara park. Enkewa Camp a Treasure
Enkewa camp is highly recommended. Our entire experience was excellent. We were warmly greeted by Dominic and his staff of personable and capable staff. The accommodation was very clean, spacious, and comfortable. I especially liked the outdoor shower with plenty of warm water. The meals were expertly prepared and served. Congratulations to Justin, Solomon, and staff. We came to Africa to see animals in their natural habitat and we were not disappointed. Isaac our guide and Mosquito our tracker were excellent. Isaac is very knowledable, was exceptionally personable and had a great sense of humour. Mosquito was sure that no sightings were missed. I felt comfortable, relaxed, and secure in close proximity to lions, elelephants, giraffes, the cheetah, and buffaloes. Congratulations Jose, you own and operate a first class resort. Five stars at Enkewa Camp: hospitality, conservation and nature in perfect harmony
Our stay at Enkewa Camp in the Masai Mara was a truly unforgettable experience for the whole family. From the beginning we felt welcomed and extraordinarily well taken care of, with a level of care and closeness that made a difference. Beyond comfort, it was very important for us to understand and support the private conservancy model, and to know up close the genuine efforts of the local community to live in harmony with wildlife and protect this unique ecosystem for future generations. The accommodation, meals and game drives were simply five stars: authentic, thoughtful to detail and deeply connected to the surroundings. We want to highlight especially the local staff, always attentive, professional and warm, and with a wonderful sensitivity to children, who felt accompanied, safe and part of the experience at all times. Life Changing Safari
The most authentic and best safari experience imaginable. My only complaint: Time moves too fast here. Stop searching for camps and book here immediately. Enkewa provides the life changing experience that you are looking for. From the moment of booking to even after we left, they provided the highest level of customer service and tailored our experience to make our stay the best it can possibly be. And it was the wonderful people/staff that make it so special. Jose- You can see the passion he has for the animals and it shows in every aspect of his camp. He was extremely responsive to questions and inquiries. High attention to detail. Very knowledgeable and accommodating to my wife’s food allergies. He was away from camp seeking a melanistic leopard during our stay and was still available to provide for us. I wish we had more time to learn more about him. Johnson (Guide)- The most gentle and knowledgeable guide imaginable. He exceeded every expectation. He put us on all 3 big cats within 1 hour. He knew just where to find the elusive Rhino to complete the big 5. If you are a photographer, he would set you up for the best angles and lighting without needing to say a word (not my experience with other camps). He has a great eye for photography. He was deeply knowledgeable and has a passion for the conservation of the animals and the land. Johnson has a great sense of humor and an infectious smile. He would provide insight about the animals but also knew when to be quiet to enjoy the moment. Cannot say enough good things about my friend, Johnson. Lesaloi (Spotter)- Worked extremely hard to put us on every animal. He spotted a Cheetah hunting from an impossibly far distance. He was very gentle and accommodating to my family. Had a great sense of humor and spoke great English. An absolute professional. The spotter really enhances the Safari and particularly Lesaloi is the reason for that. Janet- We left feeling like we added another member to our family. Janet was so sweet and provided the highest level of customer service. She is a pillar in the community with her involvement in charity work and makes a difference to this world. Make sure to book her for a massage! Amazing. Nando- He really added to our experience and made sure we always had everything we needed. He is such a talented photographer and helped me greatly by giving me tips. He spent a lot of time helping me capture milky way photos. Can’t wait to see him again. Location: Enkewa is an oasis in the Mara. Other areas of the Mara were very dry/dusty but you come over the hill and Enkewa is a green oasis. Seeing palm trees is unique. A small opening in the trees with a wooden bridge leading to the camp really adds to the magic. There is NO MALARIA. We quit taking the malaria meds because it’s not necessary. There were basically no bugs and no dust. Very comfortable climate in January. The location in the park is ideal. Seemed like we rarely saw other jeeps and mostly 1 on 1 with every animal. You will see an incredible amount of animals. Never a dull moment. Food: EXCELLENT. Very accommodating to celiac allergies. We did not have one meal we didn’t enjoy. Romantic candlelit dinners and delicious lunches spent watching monkeys. I would put the meals up against any high end restaurant in the states. Accommodations: The safari vibes were immaculate. The tents have every luxury you could want but still true to the authentic safari experience. We appreciated the balance of luxury and authenticity. The tents and camp are solar powered and self sustainable. It’s refreshing to see that preservation is a priority which is not the case at many other so called “camps”. Enkewa provided us with the spiritual and life changing experience we were hoping for and exceeded every expectation. We are counting down the days to go back to this special place and see the people that now feel like family.
