5 Tips for Your Photography Safari in Kenya

You’ve finally decided to participate in a photography safari in Kenya… What should you know before embarking on the adventure? At Enkewa, we’ll share some tips to make your experience in Kenya unforgettable. Let experts guide you and enjoy your safari! Join us!

Things to Consider Before Your Safari in KenyaRemember that to visit Kenya, a tourist visa is required. To obtain it, your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry into the country. Therefore, if your passport is about to expire, make sure to renew it before your trip. You can obtain your visa at the Kenyan embassy in Spain. It’s also possible to process it upon arrival at the airport, but you might prefer to handle it in advance to avoid wasting unnecessary time.

You might think that Africa is very hot, but in reality, the temperatures are quite variable. There will surely be moments when you’ll need to protect yourself from the cool (it can drop to about 13 or 14 degrees). The best advice is to bring several layers of clothing so you can put them on and take them off as the temperature changes. It’s best to wear cotton or linen clothes that are not too tight. If you want your main safari subject not to be mosquitoes, bring some long-sleeve clothes to protect yourself. As for footwear, comfort is key. You should also be prepared for the sun, so pack sunglasses, a hat, and good sunscreen.

Small Tips to Remember

Don’t forget your binoculars and camera! From our vehicles, you’ll be able to capture the best images. All our jeeps and vans are open, and each passenger will have a window seat for maximum visibility. This way, you’ll enjoy unbeatable views on your photography safari in Kenya.

In Africa, the tipping culture is very strong. Although there is no fixed amount, at Enkewa, we recommend about 10 USD per person per night. The local currency is the Kenyan shilling. Hotels, restaurants, and other significant establishments accept major foreign currencies as well as credit cards.

And lastly, to make your photography safari in Kenya a unique experience, relax and go with the flow. Don’t obsess over spotting animals and immerse yourself in a way of life and a culture so different from ours. And of course, be respectful of the animals and the environment.
